Siena, Italy

The historic centre of the city of Siena was accorded Unesco World Heritage Site status in 1995 for its importance as an Italian medieval city. At the heart of the historic centre is the Piazza del Campo and Palazzo Pubblico with the Torre del Mangia. South-west of the central square lies the thirteenth century cathedral, the Duomo di Siena, a fine example of Italian romanesque architecture.
